5 Delicious Summer Edibles Recipes You Can Try at Home

Love cannabis-infused treats? Want to make your own at home? Test your skills in the kitchen!

These recipes for fruit-based gummies, vegan chocolate candies, and gluten-free puffed-rice treats (among others) will blow your mind. Sound complicated? It’s not! Once you know how to make your own cannabis-infused butter or oil, the sky’s the limit. There's nothing stopping you from reigning supreme as the cannabis king of the kitchen.

Here’s a great cannabutter recipe from The Cannabist.

The Cannabist Cannabutter

To make your own cannabis-infused butter, all you need is:

- 1 pound butter

- 1 cup water

- 1-2 ounces cannabis

Mix butter and water together in a pot over low heat. Once the butter melts, add your ground cannabis and simmer for 2 to 3 hours (that’s right – don't burn it). Stir occasionally to keep it from boiling and so the THC is evenly distributed. Use and store just like regular butter.

Cannabis Oil

Think of cannabis oil as you would any other herb-infused cooking oil. Any oil—olive, coconut, whatever you have on hand—will work.

To make your oil, first, you have to decarboxylate the cannabis. Just preheat the oven to a low temperature (225 degrees will do) and bake 1 cup ground cannabis for 40 minutes. To infuse, combine the following ingredients in a Crock-Pot or slow-cooker:

- 1 cup coconut oil (or oil of choice)

- 1 teaspoon sunflower lecithin

- 1 cup decarboxylated cannabis

Stir every 30 minutes. Simmer for 8 to 12 hours and then let cool. Place a large piece of cheesecloth in a bowl and carefully pour the mixture into the cheesecloth. Secure with a rubber band and use your hands to squeeze out the oil. Store in a mason jar in the fridge for up to two months.

Now, on to the good stuff. Here are awesome edibles recipes from the Greatist.

1. Paleo Berry Cannabis Gummies

You're going to need a gummy bear mold for this recipe, so if you don’t have one, look on Amazon. Don’t worry, it's worth it. With just five ingredients (one being water and another lemon juice), these gummies can be frozen and enjoyed for weeks to come. They’re perfect for festivals season (or just a night out on the town).

2. Vegan Cannabis Chocolate Bark

This chocolate treat brings new meaning to the term 'kind bud' being that it's both delicious and cruelty-free! You'll need typical chocolate bark ingredients plus your homemade cannabis cooking oil.

3. Canna-Bananas

This recipe is perfect for anyone who would rather do just about anything else than spend time in the kitchen. All you have to do is melt chocolate and cannabis oil in a pot, coat some bananas, and freeze. Yep, that's it. High five for simple recipes that get you high.

4. Gluten-Free Cannabis Rice Crispy Treats

Made with nut butter, brown rice syrup, and cannabis butter, these sweet treats are so delicious we predict they'll replace the traditional pot brownie.

5. Vegan Pot Brownies

Made with sunflower seed butter, honey, flax egg, cocoa powder, and cannabis, these chocolate squares rival the ones you made in high school. For a Paleo version, use an egg and any nut butter of choice.
