5 Delicious Summer Edibles Recipes You Can Try at Home
Love cannabis-infused treats? Want to make your own at home? Test your skills in the kitchen!
These recipes for fruit-based gummies, vegan chocolate candies, and gluten-free puffed-rice treats (among others) will blow your mind. Sound complicated? It’s not! Once you know how to make your own cannabis-infused butter or oil, the sky’s the limit. There's nothing stopping you from reigning supreme as the cannabis king of the kitchen.
Here’s a great cannabutter recipe from The Cannabist.
The Cannabist Cannabutter
To make your own cannabis-infused butter, all you need is:
- 1 pound butter
- 1 cup water
- 1-2 ounces cannabis
Mix butter and water together in a pot over low heat. Once the butter melts, add your ground cannabis and simmer for 2 to 3 hours (that’s right – don't burn it). Stir occasionally to keep it from boiling and so the THC is evenly distributed. Use and store just like regular butter.
Think of cannabis oil as you would any other herb-infused cooking oil. Any oil—olive, coconut, whatever you have on hand—will work.
To make your oil, first, you have to decarboxylate the cannabis. Just preheat the oven to a low temperature (225 degrees will do) and bake 1 cup ground cannabis for 40 minutes. To infuse, combine the following ingredients in a Crock-Pot or slow-cooker:
- 1 cup coconut oil (or oil of choice)
- 1 teaspoon sunflower lecithin
- 1 cup decarboxylated cannabis
Stir every 30 minutes. Simmer for 8 to 12 hours and then let cool. Place a large piece of cheesecloth in a bowl and carefully pour the mixture into the cheesecloth. Secure with a rubber band and use your hands to squeeze out the oil. Store in a mason jar in the fridge for up to two months.
